Will melamine doors turn yellow and peel off after long-term use?
It will change color but won’t fall off. The melamine impregnated paper on the surface and the substrate beneath it, determine whether it can be used for a long time in engineering. A good paper has thorough resin impregnation and is more resistant to high temperatures and sunlight. If the paper is thin, the soaking is shallow, or inferior resin is used and exposed to sunlight, it will turn yellow, but it will not fall off in large areas. It is different from laminated materials. The paper has been permanently adhered to the particleboard. There is no problem if the base material at the bottom is waterproof.
Is the surface texture of melamine doors stable?
Melamine (melamine wood): Under high temperature and high pressure, paper is pressed onto the base material to form a hard surface. This surface is waterproof, stain-resistant, and scratch-resistant. Even in areas with a large flow of people, as long as you don’t deliberately use tools to carve, the texture of the door will remain firm when it is opened and closed normally.
Can melamine doors imitate the real wood grain?
Yes, melamine doors can imitate the appearance of wood grain. The texture of wood grain, the sense of concavity and convexity, as well as the aged style of wood, can all be created. Including oak, cherry wood, walnut, etc. But in terms of touch, it is very difficult to achieve a one-to-one restoration. Solid wood doors have a warmer touch, while melamine doors are harder.
Is a melamine door harmful to human health?
As long as the melamine door is of good quality and purchased from a regular supplier, there will be no safety hazards. This melamine resin has a very stable performance after curing. Even if the artificial substrate inside uses an adhesive containing formaldehyde, it will be tightly wrapped and will not release it. Regular manufacturers will also use E0 or E1 grade adhesives that meet the nationally recognized environmental protection standards in terms of quality and quantity, with lower formaldehyde residue. If the VOCs emitted by small workshops with overly low prices and simple craftsmanship are harmful to human health.
Is a melamine door suitable for interior doors?

How does the melamine door perform in dry/humid environments?
Artificial melamine doors will not crack or deform due to dry air. Over time, there may be slight contraction at the corners, but it generally does not affect usage.
In a humid environment, ordinary wood will absorb water, but the surface of artificial melamine doors has a smooth and dense waterproof film, which can also demonstrate excellent stability in a humid environment. To further prevent moisture, it is also necessary to pay attention to choosing melamine doors with tightly sealed edges and corners.
Are melamine doors cheaper than painted doors?
The main materials used for melamine doors are base materials and decorative paper. The process is simple, and both labor and energy consumption are low. To paint a door, one needs to use paint and thinner, and it also takes more time to sand and spray the paint. The labor cost is high, and the paint itself is not cheap either. Therefore, from the perspective of the production process, melamine doors usually have a lower cost. In the market, their terminal prices are often more affordable than those of painted doors of the same grade.
However, the price is not absolute. If the melamine door uses particularly good base materials or needs to have complex patterns, the cost will also increase. There are also cheap basic models in the painted door. In most cases, to achieve the same appearance effect, it is more laborious to paint the door.
Is it easy to repair a broken melamine door?
It is neither easy nor necessary to repair the already damaged melamine door. Melamine door repair requires adhesives, new patches, and tools. It’s also quite troublesome to find the texture and color that match the original melamine finish. It is also necessary to consider whether the filler can adhere well to the damaged areas. Moreover, melamine doors were originally very cheap. If there is extensive damage, it is more cost-effective to replace the door panel directly than to repair it.
Melamine door vs. HPL door: Are they the same?
Melamine doors are made by adhering a layer of paper to the base material. It can imitate the patterns of real wood and stone. The high-pressure laminate is made by layering melamine and phenolic resin. It is an integrated whole in itself. The price is slightly higher than that of the melamine door. It is suitable for both vertical and horizontal applications. Commonly found in commercial and residential projects, such as tables, countertops, doors, etc. Melamine doors are only suitable for vertical applications.
Melamine door or a PVC door which good?
The base material and resin of melamine doors have a higher density and are heavier, so melamine-faced doors are more expensive than PVC-coated ones. PVC film can offer a wider variety of textures and finishes than melamine film. It is more ideal in terms of aesthetic effect. Melamine doors are harder and smoother, while PVC doors have a softer touch and an appearance closer to natural wood. But its rigidity is not as good as that of the melamine door. They are neither good nor bad; it depends on the requirements of your project.
What are the sources of risk associated with the melamine scandal?
- The surface is fragile. The surface layer of melamine resin is not thick. If it is knocked by sharp objects or the force at the corners is not properly handled during installation, it is very likely to crack into small gaps.
- It changes color when heated. It is afraid of continuous high temperatures. For instance, do not install it near the radiator or beside the kitchen stove. The heat in these areas can cause the doors to bulge, delaminate, and discolor. This didn’t break down all at once; it accumulated quietly. By the time it was discovered, it had already affected its usage. Also, be careful not to expose yourself to the sun all the time, as it can also cause yellowing. And this color is irreversible
